Why it’s free

No ads, no account, no trial, no premium tier, nothing tracking you. It stays that way.

What it costs to run

Almost nothing. It is a folder of static files — no server doing work, no database, no accounts to support. Hosting is free, the domain is about the price of two coffees a year, and the whole app is around twenty kilobytes.

The real cost is the evenings, and a paywall would not cover those. Charging would mean payments, invoices, VAT returns and a support inbox: more work than writing the tool, for less money than it would take.

Why there are no ads

Ads were built in and then taken out again. An ad network would mean a third party watching who visits, and a cookie banner in the way of a page whose whole promise is that it opens and works.

Mostly, though, they would be dangerous here. This is an interface you operate by holding a pointer still. A clickable box next to that is not an advert, it is a trap — and on most networks an accidental click counts as fraud.

What free means here

• No paid tier, and no feature held back to create one later.
• Your writing never leaves your browser, so nobody can take it or sell it.
• It works offline once loaded, and the last version keeps working if this is ever abandoned.

If you want to help

Tell someone whose hands hurt, or who shares an office. If something is broken, say so — a clear bug report is worth more than a donation. And if you would rather chip in, it covers the domain and some of the evenings. It buys you nothing the next person does not already have, which is the point.
